Ankara: The Turkish Defense Ministry has announced the killing of six militants from the banned Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in a series of airstrikes conducted by Turkish warplanes in northern Iraq.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Turkish Defense Ministry stated that the Turkish army units operating in the regions of Kara, Metina, and Hakurk in northern Iraq, as part of the Claw Lock operations, detected gatherings of PKK militants in these mountainous areas. In response, warplanes were deployed to launch airstrikes, resulting in the death of six militants and the escape of others from the targeted locations.

The ministry’s statement further highlighted that the PKK maintains its stronghold in the Qandil Mountains in northern Iraq, from where it operates across various cities, regions, and valleys, orchestrating attacks on Turkish territory. The Turkish army is committed to efforts aimed at eliminating terrorism from these areas.
