Guatemala City: US military aircraft have conducted the transfer of the first batch of illegal immigrants from the United States to Guatemala following Donald Trump's inauguration as president. The Guatemalan Migration Institute reported that the immigrants were received at a reception center for returnees located at one of the country's air bases, where they received initial assistance from the state. According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Guatemalan Migration Institute stated in a statement that the first plane carried 80 individuals, which included 31 women, 48 men, and one minor without an adult companion. After their registration, they were provided with basic services, such as food, clothing, and hygiene supplies. In some cases, they also received psychological and social support and the opportunity to make phone calls. Local media reported that shortly after the first plane, a second American aircraft landed at the same air base, carrying another approximately 80 people. These individuals were similarly transferred to a reception center for returnees before being able to return to their homes. It is noteworthy that in his first speech as president last Monday, Trump pledged to immediately halt the entry of illegal immigrants into the United States and initiate the deportation of millions of immigrants residing illegally in the country.
