Sana'a: UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres condemned the detention of a new group of UN staff by the Yemeni "Ansar Allah" group, also known as the Houthis. In a statement, Guterres called for the immediate and unconditional release of the staff who were detained on Thursday. He also highlighted the situation of UN staff, international and local NGOs, civil society representatives, and diplomatic missions who have been arbitrarily detained since June 2024, as well as those detained since 2021 and 2023. According to National Iraqi News Agency, Guterres emphasized that the ongoing arbitrary detention of these individuals is unacceptable. The Houthis had detained seven UN employees, leading the international organization to halt the movements of its employees in areas under their control.
