Baghdad: Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan confirmed that his country supports all steps that contribute to achieving security and stability in Iraq. Fidan made this statement during a joint press conference with Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein, emphasizing the interconnectedness of Iraq’s security with that of Turkey.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the discussions between the two ministers covered regional developments and the expansion of security cooperation in the fight against ISIS. Fidan highlighted that the security and stability of Iraq have direct implications for Turkey’s own security and stability.

Fidan also noted the significant economic ties between the two nations, mentioning that the volume of trade exchange with Iraq has reached 20 billion dollars. The Turkish Foreign Minister’s visit to Baghdad marks an official engagement aimed at strengthening bilateral relations.
