Baghdad: Minister of Interior Abdul Amir Al-Shammari has issued a series of directives aimed at combating human trafficking. These directives include intensifying community awareness and education programs, enhancing victim protection mechanisms, and enforcing strict measures against individuals involved in this crime.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry of Interior released a statement noting that the Supreme Committee for Combating Human Trafficking convened its first session for the year 2025. The meeting took place at the Directorate of Combating Human Trafficking headquarters, with Minister Al-Shammari, who also chairs the committee, and various ministry and authority representatives in attendance.

During the session, several key topics on the agenda were addressed, all aimed at bolstering national efforts against human trafficking crimes. The statement highlighted recommendations focusing on strengthening preventive measures through community awareness and education campaigns. It also emphasized the imposition of strict measures to prosecute those involved in human trafficking, ensuring their accountability under applicable laws.

The attendees underscored the necessity of cooperation and coordination among relevant parties to develop an effective, comprehensive response to this crime, which poses a significant threat to individuals and society.
