Washington: The Administration of US President Donald Trump is reorganizing media access to the White House, opening the door to influencers, bloggers, and podcasters as part of a new strategy that includes non-traditional media voices in the briefing room. In a move aimed at broadening the spectrum of media representation, the White House is shifting its focus towards emerging media platforms to reach a wider audience.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, in her first press conference, White House spokeswoman Caroline Levitt announced that the briefing room will now welcome "new media voices," including social media influencers, content creators, bloggers, podcasters, and independent journalists. This initiative marks a significant change in how the White House engages with the media, aiming to include a diverse array of perspectives.
Levitt explained that those who produce "news-related content" can apply for accreditation to cover White House news, indicating a shift in how media credentials are distributed. This approach allows individuals and organizations outside traditional media networks to gain access to White House briefings and events.
She emphasized that traditional media no longer holds the same influence as it once did, noting that many Americans are increasingly turning to "new media" sources for their news. This shift underscores the administration's intention to adapt to changing media consumption habits by integrating more contemporary and varied voices into its media landscape.
Levitt described this shift as a 'revolutionary media approach,' highlighting the Trump Administration's commitment to redefining its media strategy to better align with the evolving nature of information dissemination.
