Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani has underscored the urgency for Iraq's parliament to approve the proposed amendment to the budget law without alterations, aiming to facilitate the completion of development plans. During a meeting at the government palace, Al-Sudani met with the heads of parliamentary blocs and prominent parliamentary figures, including Speaker of the House of Representatives Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani and his deputies Mohsen Ali Al-Mandalawi and Shakhwan Abdullah.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the meeting involved a comprehensive review of the progress of the government's program, highlighting the crucial need to support service and economic projects directly affecting citizens. Discussions also focused on enhancing collaboration between legislative and executive bodies to achieve key development objectives.

The amendment to the Federal General Budget Law is seen as a fundamental component for executing the government's commitments. Prime Minister Al-Sudani emphasized adhering to the text related to the cost of oil production, previously approved by the Council of Ministers in November and reflected in official communications with the House of Representatives. This text has also been endorsed by the Parliamentary Finance Committee.

Al-Sudani reiterated the importance of the House of Representatives passing the amendment as is, to advance Iraq's development plans in line with the government's economic strategy. He stressed that this approach aligns with the national interest and the governmental vision endorsed by the House.

Meanwhile, the Speaker, his deputies, and parliamentary bloc leaders voiced their support for the government's amendment, agreeing on the necessity to back government initiatives to serve Iraq's broader interests.
