Baghdad: The Intelligence and Security Directorate of the Ministry of Defense announced today the arrest of the official responsible for “financing and support” for ISIS elements in Salah al-Din Governorate. This significant development is part of the ongoing efforts to dismantle ISIS networks within the region, highlighting the commitment of the Ministry of Defense to ensure security and stability.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the arrest was carried out under the direction of Minister of Defense Thabet al-Abbasi. The operation was executed by the General Directorate of Intelligence and Security at the Ministry of Defense, emphasizing precise intelligence efforts. The Special Intelligence Missions Cell, a unit within the Directorate, successfully detained the individual who is considered a dangerous terrorist in Salah al-Din Governorate.

The Directorate further indicated that the arrested terrorist was actively working as an official responsible for financing and providing logistical support, as well as serving as an intelligence element for ISIS terrorist elements. This arrest is seen as a crucial step in curtailing the operational capabilities of ISIS in the region.
