Jeddah: Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan called on the international community to support the Palestinian cause and restore Syria to its international status. Fidan delivered his remarks at the extraordinary meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, urging collective efforts to address the injustices faced by Muslims and alleviate the suffering of Palestinians.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Fidan emphasized the necessity of protecting the Palestinian and Islamic identity of Palestine and reiterated Turkey’s endorsement of the plan adopted in Cairo. He called for a united declaration that Gaza is Palestinian land and condemned any attempts to displace Palestinians or seize their lands.

Fidan expressed concern about Israeli settlement expansions in the occupied West Bank and urged actions to counter Israeli extremists’ annexation calls. He also warned against efforts to alter the historical and political status of the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Addressing the situation in Syria, Fidan highlighted the historic nature of recent developments and underscored the opportunity for Syrians to determine their future. He stressed that restoring stability and security should be prioritized, emphasizing the importance of the central government’s control and territorial integrity.

In addition, Fidan welcomed Syria’s reinstatement in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and advocated for collaborative efforts to reinstate Syria’s rightful place in regional and international affairs.
