Baghdad: Speaker of the Council of Representatives Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani has advocated for the development of a comprehensive national strategy aimed at supporting women and enhancing their presence in society.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Mashhadani addressed the nation on International Women’s Day, expressing pride and appreciation for Iraqi women and their pivotal role in society. He acknowledged their contributions both at home as mothers and educators, and in the workforce as employees, teachers, doctors, engineers, soldiers, and more.

Al-Mashhadani emphasized that Iraqi women have always been central to the nation’s history, playing key roles in societal development. He highlighted their resilience, noting that women have supported their families and society as mothers, wives, sisters, and daughters, even during the most challenging times.

He further acknowledged the sacrifices made by women who have sent their sons to defend the homeland while continuing to contribute to the country’s progress in various fields. Al-Mashhadani stressed the importance of recognizing these efforts not only in words but through actionable support, calling for a strategy that provides women with the opportunities they deserve to be integral partners in building a new Iraq.
