Seoul: Russian military aircraft entered South Korea's air defense identification zone on Saturday, prompting the South Korean military to respond by deploying fighter jets.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Joint Chiefs of Staff in Seoul stated that several Russian military aircraft entered South Korea's air defense identification zone in succession, at around 9:20 AM, before departing in an east or northerly direction.

The Joint Chiefs of Staff in Seoul stated that the aircraft did not violate South Korean airspace.

The South Korean military was able to detect the aircraft before they entered and deployed Air Force fighter jets in a tactical response to potential incidents.

The South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff said that it had confirmed through communications with the Russian side that the aircraft were conducting training and had no intention of violating territorial airspace.
