Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani has confirmed his approval to supply Lebanon with fuel during a phone conversation with Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Prime Minister’s media office released a statement detailing the call, which took place on Saturday. During their discussion, al-Sudani expressed Iraq’s commitment to Lebanon’s security and stability, alongside a pledge to assist in its reconstruction. He also granted the Iraqi Ministry of Oil an exemption to provide Lebanon with fuel for a six-month period.

Al-Sudani also acknowledged Berri’s significant role in Lebanon’s political landscape and condemned recent criminal attacks, particularly those occurring in the southern suburbs of Beirut, attributing them to efforts by the occupying entity to renew conflict.

In response, Speaker Berri expressed gratitude to Prime Minister al-Sudani for his supportive stance towards Lebanon and its sovereignty. He emphasized the importance of maintaining strong communication with Iraq across various sectors.
