Tehran: Iranian Deputy Minister of Justice for Human Rights and International Affairs, Askar Jalalian, announced the transfer of 43 Iranian convicts from Iraqi prisons to Iran.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Jalalian stated that the transfer is part of the prisoner exchange agreement between Iran and Iraq. The convicts, who were held in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, include 16 men and 4 women. They have been moved to Iran to serve the remainder of their sentences.

Jalalian further noted that over the past month, 180 Iranian convicts from various countries have been transferred back to Iran. This is also part of the ongoing prisoner exchange agreements, allowing these individuals to complete their sentences in their home country.
