Washington: US President Donald Trump confirmed that he is fully confident in the success of his plan to seize and occupy Greenland without the use of military force, and that he is not ruling out any option. Trump confirmed in an interview with NBC that he had “serious talks” about annexing Greenland. “We will get Greenland 100%.”
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Trump added, “There’s a good chance we can do it without the use of military force… but I’m not ruling anything out.” Trump’s remarks came a day after Vice President J.D. Vance visited Greenland, a controversial move amid growing US interest in acquiring the island.
While at the Bitovik Space Base on Greenland’s northwest coast, Vance said, “Our message to Denmark is very simple: You have not done a good job for the people of Greenland.”
On Saturday, Denmark witnessed demonstrations near the US embassy in several cities, including the capital, Copenhagen, with more than 800 people demonstrating against the US’s repeated claim to Greenland. Protesters carried Greenlandic and Danish flags and small signs reading “Greenland is not for sale.”
For his part, Russian President Vladimir Putin affirmed Russia’s neutrality on the Greenland issue, emphasizing Russia will not allow anyone to violate its sovereignty.
