Gaza: The Palestinian Red Crescent announced the recovery of the bodies of 14 paramedics killed in Israeli army gunfire on ambulances in the Gaza Strip a week ago.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Red Crescent reported in a statement on Sunday, March 30, 2025, that the number of bodies recovered had risen to 14. These included eight paramedics from the Red Crescent, five from civil defense, and an employee of a United Nations agency.

The statement did not specify the UN agency for which the employee worked but noted that the recovery of the bodies was challenging as they were buried in the sand, and some had begun to decompose.

These paramedics were killed in Israeli gunfire on ambulances in Rafah, located in the southern Gaza Strip, on March 23. The Israeli military acknowledged that its forces had opened fire on the ambulances during the incident.

The shooting incident occurred in the Tel al-Sultan neighborhood of Rafah just days after the Israeli offensive resumed on the area near the Egyptian border. The army resumed its bombing of Gaza on March 18, ending a nearly two-month truce.
