Baghdad: Police Command forces in Rusafa arrested a suspect for online blackmailing a girl and threatening to publish her photos on social media unless she paid him a sum of money.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Command stated in a statement that its detachments, represented by the police station and the emergency department in the New Baghdad area, in cooperation with other security services, arrested the suspect after the complainant called the security forces for help.
It explained: “The girl reported being blackmailed by a person known to her, who threatened to publish her private photos if she did not transfer him a sum of money.” A specialized task force was immediately formed, and a tight ambush was set up, resulting in the arrest of the accused red-handed.
The Command confirmed: “The accused explicitly confessed to the crime of extortion, and he was placed in detention pending further legal proceedings.”
