Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani emphasized that protecting society, particularly the youth, from the scourge of drugs is a top priority for the government.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement from Al-Sudani’s media office noted that the Prime Minister met with Sharifa Noman Al-Emadi, the Executive Director of the Doha International Family Institute (DIFI), and her accompanying delegation. The meeting focused on reinforcing cooperation and coordination between relevant government institutions, civil society organizations, Iraqi research centers, and the DIFI in areas concerning family welfare, viewed as the foundation for building a healthy society.

Al-Sudani highlighted the importance of adopting successful scientific preventive and therapeutic approaches that align with the cultural context of Arab society. He stressed the government’s commitment to safeguarding the youth from drug-related issues by implementing strategies that are both effective and culturally appropriate.

Sharifa Noman Al-Emadi outlined various social, educational, and psychological programs that are operational in Qatari schools to promote family stability and combat addiction. She expressed her willingness to collaborate with Iraqi institutions to implement similar initiatives that address behavioral and addiction challenges in Iraq.
