Prime Minister Orders Investigation into the Death of Bashir Khaled Latif


Baghdad: Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, has instructed the formation of a high-level investigative committee to examine the circumstances surrounding the death of Bashir Khaled Latif.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the committee will be led by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for Police Affairs, alongside the Undersecretary of the National Security Service, and a senior officer from the Iraqi National Intelligence Service. This team is tasked with investigating all aspects of the incident and submitting a comprehensive report detailing the events from the onset of the incident to Latif’s death. The findings of this investigation will be made public once the inquiry is concluded.



Spokesman for the Commander-in-Chief, Sabah al-Numan, conveyed condolences to Latif’s family and friends, assuring them that those responsible for the incident would face accountability. He further stressed that the investigation aims to uncover the true causes of Latif’s death, with a commitment to ensuring that no individual who acts outside the legal boundaries and human rights principles will be spared from justice.
