Baghdad: The Council of Ministers hosted the head of the Teachers’ Syndicate today and announced a series of decisions aimed at improving conditions for educational and teaching staff, as well as Ministry of Education employees.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Council’s decisions include the distribution of land plots to educational staff in Baghdad and other governorates. A higher committee will be formed to implement directives from the Prime Minister’s Office, which includes the establishment of residential neighborhoods for educational cadres and Ministry of Education employees, with the involvement of the Teachers’ Syndicate.

The Ministry of Finance has been tasked with covering transportation fees for educational supervisors, with these expenses being allocated from the budget of each education directorate under the ministry. Additionally, the Ministry of Education will provide 100,000 dinars per semester to support school administration activities.

Efforts to enhance teacher protection were also highlighted, including the activation of all provisions of the Teacher Protection Law (8 of 2018). An inventory of remote schools and staff located over 100 km from city centers will be compiled to find solutions to address their needs.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Finance will consider calculating years of free service for promotional and bonus purposes. Government banks will offer financial loans at low interest rates to teaching and learning staff to help improve their standard of living.
