Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani commemorated the fall of the former dictatorial regime, marking a pivotal moment in Iraq’s history. In a public statement, Al-Sudani expressed that the country has moved beyond the oppressive years inflicted by what he described as “the worst clique that ruled Iraq and the Iraqis,” asserting that such a regime is gone forever.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Sudani highlighted the sacrifices made by the Iraqi people, emphasizing the collective efforts of various components and forces, both Islamic and national, that contributed to the regime’s downfall. He noted the symbolic timing of the regime’s fall, aligning with the anniversary of the martyrdom of Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Muhammad Baqir al-Sadr and his sister, Sayyida Amina al-Sadr, whose deaths represented a severe violation of moral and societal norms by the former regime.

Al-Sudani further acknowledged the importance of the democratic system established post-regime, which, under the Constitution and the law, ensures the rights of all Iraqis. He lauded the country’s current state, citing significant progress in security and stability, and the ongoing efforts in reconstruction and development. The Prime Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to political construction and economic reform, aiming to fulfill the aspirations of the Iraqi people.
