Baghdad: The UN has expressed optimism regarding the upcoming negotiations between the United States and Iran, emphasizing the significance of dialogue in resolving disputes. St©phane Dujarric, the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative, conveyed the organization’s hopeful stance on the matter.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Dujarric highlighted the importance of diplomatic efforts, stating at a press conference, “We very much hope that the negotiations scheduled to take place in Oman will yield positive results. It is very important that the United States and Iran resort to diplomacy to resolve all outstanding issues.”

US President Donald Trump has confirmed that negotiations with Iran are in progress, with plans for a high-level meeting on Saturday. White House spokeswoman Carolyn Leavitt noted that officials from both nations would engage in direct talks. Tammy Bruce, spokeswoman for the US State Department, added that Steve Witkoff, the US President’s Special Envoy to the Middle East, would take part in the discussions.
