Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani received a delegation of directors from research and studies centers in Syria, who visited Iraq at the invitation of the Iraqi Foreign Policy Group to engage in dialogue and exchange viewpoints. Al-Sudani welcomed the visitors, reiterating Iraq’s commitment to Syria’s territorial integrity and its opposition to foreign interference, emphasizing that the future of Syria should be determined by its people.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Prime Minister expressed interest in the work of research and studies centers, highlighting that civil society organizations are a testament to the new democratic Iraq. He noted the deep social, cultural, and economic ties between Iraq and the Levant, stressing the importance of researching national identity issues that unite Syrians and promote stability, equality, and civil peace.

Al-Sudani underscored the significance of engaging with social justice institutions and encouraged learning from Iraq’s experiences in this domain. He urged the strengthening of such institutions to bolster Syrian identity, build robust establishments, and prevent the entrapment of ideas by historical grievances.

The Prime Minister also emphasized that security in Syria is crucial for Iraq, as the stability and prosperity of both nations are interlinked. He voiced Iraq’s concerns over foreign interference in Syria and the presence of occupying forces on Syrian territory.

The Syrian directors, in turn, expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to visit Iraq, allowing them to observe firsthand the stable situation and developments that are not widely covered in the media. They acknowledged the historical and fraternal relations between the Iraqi and Syrian peoples, highlighting their significant social and economic connections.
