Gaza Strip: The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) issued an urgent warning due to the rapid dwindling of essential supplies in the Gaza Strip, where humanitarian conditions are approaching catastrophic levels.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, UNRWA Communications Director Juliette Touma said in a statement: “Prices of basic commodities have risen dramatically in recent weeks as a result of the ongoing Israeli blockade, and infants and children are suffering from severe malnutrition, as Gaza approaches a state of extreme hunger.”

Touma called for the immediate resumption of ceasefire negotiations, the lifting of restrictions, and unhindered access for humanitarian and commercial shipments.

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs stated that all crossings into Gaza have remained closed to humanitarian and commercial shipments since March 2, the longest continuous closure since October 2023.

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) expressed concern about the arrival of aid, confirming in a statement that it had not received any official notification regarding the opening of Gaza crossings for relief supplies. It renewed its appeal for urgent humanitarian access to avoid further deterioration in the lives of civilians.
