Baghdad: First Deputy Speaker of Parliament Mohsen al-Mandalawi has called on the relevant authorities to intensify their efforts to search for the remains of 22,000 missing Faili youth in mass graves.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement from al-Mandalawi’s media office highlighted his sponsorship of the annual central memorial ceremony marking Faili Martyr’s Day and the fall of the defunct Ba’ath Party. The ceremony was attended by the President of the Republic, several MPs, ministers, and political leaders.

In his speech during the ceremony, al-Mandalawi urged the government to present a practical study aimed at implementing the outcomes of Resolution 426 of 2010, which seeks to address the negative impacts on the Faili community. He expressed interest in establishing a fund for the affected areas along the border strip, as well as building residential complexes to facilitate the return of those forcibly displaced. Al-Mandalawi also called on the Prime Minister to revisit the issue of political dismissals to ensure the return of Faili community members.

He further stated, “We were keen to cancel the unjust decisions No. (617) and (489) of 1981 to return rights to their rightful owners. We have restored the city of Mandali to a district, and our efforts are continuing to rebuild the cities of the Faili Kurds.”

Al-Mandalawi emphasized the pursuit of all perpetrators outside Iraq through Interpol, who were involved in the genocidal campaigns against the innocent. He also praised Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani for officially designating a day to honor the Faili martyrs.
