Diyala: The Administrative Judiciary Court issued a new decision rejecting the appeal filed against the provincial order ordering the reinstatement of Omar Al-Karwi to his position as Chairman of the Diyala Provincial Council.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the decision came after deliberations by judges who deemed the grounds for the appeal insufficient and lacking legal basis.
The “appellant,” Turki Jadaan Abd, a member of the Diyala Provincial Council, had submitted a request to annul the provincial order issued on March 23, 2025, which ordered Omar Al-Karwi’s dismissal from his position. However, the court affirmed its previous decision issued on March 25, 2025, which suspended the implementation of Administrative Decision No. (67/3/23) pending the resolution of the case before it.
For his part, MP Mudhar Al-Karwi said in a statement, our belief in the fairness of the Iraqi judiciary and the Administrative Court’s decision to dismiss the grievance and proceed with the implementation of the provincial order to reinstate Omar Al-Karwi to his position is a victory for truth, justice, and the law.”
He added, “We thank the impartial Iraqi judiciary and call on everyone to respect the law and implement the binding judicial decision.”
It is worth noting that the Diyala Provincial Council voted last March to dismiss its chairman, Omar Al-Karwi, and elected Nizar Al-Lahibi as his replacement. The Administrative Court then issued a provincial order to reinstate Al-Karwi. However, the decision has not yet been implemented, pending a resolution of the case on April 13th.
