President of Iraq and Al-Halbousi Discuss Preparations for Fair Parliamentary Elections


Baghdad: The President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, engaged in discussions with Mohammed al-Halbousi, head of the Progress Party, focusing on the preparations for holding fair parliamentary elections that aim to reflect the will of the Iraqi people in choosing their representatives.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, a presidential statement revealed that President Rashid received al-Halbousi in Baghdad. The meeting encompassed discussions on the political and security situation in the country and developments in the region. Rashid emphasized the importance of maintaining consultations and strengthening understandings among political forces to support the state’s path and combine efforts to prioritize the national interest. This approach is expected to contribute to consolidating security and stability and achieving sustainable development across various sectors.



The statement further indicated that both parties discussed the preparations for holding fair parliamentary elections, emphasizing their reflection of the Iraqi people’s will in choosing their representatives. They stressed the importance of supporting the Independent High Electoral Commission to ensure the success of this democratic process.



Al-Halbousi expressed gratitude to President Rashid for his ongoing concern for all citizens’ interests, highlighting the necessity to meet citizens’ aspirations and improve living and service conditions.
