Baghdad: Deputy Speaker of Parliament Shakhwan Abdullah discussed, in his official office in Baghdad, with the Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Mohammed Al-Hassan, international efforts to enhance stability and maintain cooperation between the mission and the legislative institution.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Hassan congratulated the Deputy Speaker of Parliament and the representatives on the vote on the law establishing Halabja Governorate. He considered it an important step towards eliminating the effects of the chemical attack on the city and mitigating the damage.
The two sides discussed a number of issues of mutual interest, the latest developments in Iraq, and the events taking place in the region. Measures to support international efforts to enhance stability and continue cooperation and coordination between the United Nations mission and the legislative institution were also discussed, serving the public interest in the country.
