According to National Iraqi News Agency, the explosion was reported by the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) on Tuesday. The shell detonated in an open area, resulting in the tragic loss of life and multiple injuries. This event highlights the ongoing dangers posed by remnants of war in the region.

Previously, in March, another tragic incident occurred when a landmine explosion in the eastern Latakia countryside killed one person and injured another. These incidents underscore the persistent threat posed by unexploded ordnance in Syria. Remnants of war, including shells and landmines, continue to endanger civilians, causing fatalities and serious injuries. Moreover, they hinder agricultural and economic activities and obstruct the return of displaced persons to their homes across extensive areas of the country.
