Baghdad: President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid affirmed that the House of Representatives’ vote on the law establishing Halabja Governorate is an important national step that reflects the state’s commitment to redressing victims and promoting the values of justice. The Presidency said in a statement that this development came during the President’s reception of the head of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) parliamentary bloc, Harim Kamal Agha, at the Baghdad Palace.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the President indicated that the Presidency has made efforts with all parties to expedite the approval of the establishment of Halabja Governorate. This move aims to do justice to the city’s residents and honor the martyrs’ blood. He emphasized the need to complete the necessary legal and administrative procedures.
The statement added that during the meeting, the importance of continued coordination and cooperation between political forces was emphasized to support the paths of stability and construction, and to enact laws relevant to citizens’ needs.
For his part, Harim Kamal Agha expressed his appreciation for the President’s supportive stance on the Halabja issue, affirming his bloc’s commitment to working with all political forces to enhance national integration and understanding.
