Baghdad: The French Presidency announced the recall of the French Ambassador to Algeria for consultations, as well as the decision to expel 12 employees of the Algerian consular and diplomatic network in France. According to National Iraqi News Agency, Paris’ decision comes amid escalating tensions between France and Algeria. Algerian authorities declared 12 officials in the French Interior Ministry persona non grata on Sunday, giving them 48 hours to leave the country.

The Algerian decision was taken in response to the arrest in Paris on Friday of three Algerians, including a consular employee, “suspected of involvement in the kidnapping and detention of an opponent of the Algerian regime living in France.”

The ‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬€š¬¦¡¬€š¬…¡¬¦¡¬€š¬…¡¬‚¬¦¡¬¦¡¬€š¬…¡¬‚¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬¦¡¬¦¡¬€š¬…¡¬‚¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬¦¡¬¦¡¬€š¬…¡¬‚¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬€š¬¦¡¬¦¡¬¦¡¬€š¬…¡¬‚¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬€š¬¦¡¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬€š¬¦¡¬€š¬…¡¬¦¡¬¦¡¬¦¡¬°lys©e statement also condemned Algeria’s “unjustified” and “incomprehensible” decision, as the 12 French officials left the country during the day and were on their way back to France. Algeria had strongly protested Paris’ decision to place an Algerian consular employee in custody in France as part of the investigation into the alleged kidnapping of opposition activist Amir Boukhors (Amir Dizad).
