Baghdad: The Minister of Interior, Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, has ordered the formation of an investigative committee to probe the repercussions of an incident that occurred in the Abu Azam area north of Baghdad. This directive comes amid reports of an assault on a group of demonstrators who were demanding essential services.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry of Interior released a statement indicating that Al-Shammari has tasked the committee with investigating the actions of members of the Federal Police forces involved in the incident. The investigation will focus on the alleged assault of residents and the arrest of individuals without legal grounds. The use of live ammunition during the incident is also under scrutiny.

The statement further emphasized that those found responsible for any wrongdoing will face strict accountability measures. The ministry's actions reflect a commitment to address the concerns of the demonstrators and ensure that law enforcement operates within the bounds of legality.
