Baghdad: Humam Hamoudi, head of the Islamic Supreme Council, and Muthanna Al-Samarrai, head of Azm Alliance, have underscored the significance of elections as the sole avenue for change, asserting that holding them on schedule is a fundamental right of the populace.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement from Hamoudi's media office highlighted that he welcomed Muthanna Al-Samarrai, who extended his congratulations to Hamoudi on his re-election as head of the Supreme Council. Their discussions covered the latest developments in Iraq, international issues, forthcoming challenges, and the electoral process.

The statement further noted that both leaders emphasized the critical role of elections in reinforcing the democratic framework of the state and maintaining the continuity of the political process by empowering the people's will and decisions. They affirmed that elections stand as the only opportunity for change available to the citizens.

The leaders reiterated, "Holding the elections on time is a popular right that cannot be relinquished, and the government must assume its responsibility by providing all the requirements for their success."
