Erbil: The Italian Ambassador to Iraq, Nicol² Fontana, affirmed that his country attaches great importance to its relations with the Kurdistan Region, praising its stability and progress. A statement issued by the Kurdistan Region Presidency stated that Nechirvan Barzani received Fontana on Thursday. During the meeting, they discussed Italy's relations with Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, developing joint cooperation in the fields of economy, culture, education, and heritage protection. Continued coordination in various fields was emphasized.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Nechirvan Barzani expressed the Kurdistan Region's gratitude and appreciation for Italy's positive role within the framework of the international coalition against ISIS and its continued support for the Peshmerga and development programs. He also emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation and partnership with Italy in various sectors.
