Madrid: Minister of Transport Razzaq Muhaibis Al-Saadawi invited the Director of Spanish Ports, Mar Chao Lopez, to visit the Grand Faw Port. The Ministry of Transport stated in a statement: "Minister of Transport Razzaq Muhaibis Al-Saadawi conducted an inspection tour of the main train stations and ports in the cities of Madrid and Valencia in Spain, heading an Iraqi delegation that included the head of the Parliamentary Transport and Communications Committee, Zahra Al-Bajari, the Director General of Passenger and Delegation Transport, Karim Kazim Hussein, and the Director General of Iraqi Railways, Maki Jaber." According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Saadawi was briefed on the current train operations at the Madrid and Valencia stations, their waiting lounges, and the services provided to passengers. The statement added that the tour also included three ports in Valencia (northern, southern, and central). They were received by the Director of Ports, Mar Chao Lopez, who gave a detailed explanation of the operation of these ports, including the breakwater, the container terminal and docks, as well as the train and cruise ship stations, with the aim of benefiting from Spanish expertise in operating Iraqi ports. According to the statement, the Minister extended an invitation to Lopez to visit the Grand Faw Port, where he provided a detailed explanation of its five projects, which the Ministry intends to operate during the current year. It is worth noting that the Port of Valencia is a cruise port, offering all the services and most sought-after tourist attractions in the Mediterranean. The port is connected to the city's two main tourist areas, the historic center and the City of Arts and Sciences. According to the statement, the Port of Valencia is preparing its facilities to accommodate container traffic and cruises. Approximately 30 shipping lines use it as a port of call annually, whether for transit or transit (partial embarkation and partial disembarkation of passengers).
