Beirut: Lebanese President General Joseph Aoun confirmed the decision to restrict the possession of weapons to the Lebanese state, stating that it is unacceptable to return to the language of war. During his meeting with a delegation from the French Senate, Aoun highlighted the recent Israeli withdrawal from the five hills on Lebanon's southern border, emphasizing the necessity for expedited deployment of the Lebanese Army to ensure the state assumes sole responsibility for border security.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Lebanese President outlined the deployment of the Lebanese Army on the northeastern border, where it is actively fulfilling its duties, including combating terrorism, preventing smuggling, and maintaining internal security. Aoun also mentioned that necessary reforms have commenced and will be completed as they are crucial for Lebanon itself, rather than being driven by external demands.

He further indicated that joint Lebanese-Syrian committees will be established to address unresolved issues, such as the demarcation of land and maritime borders and the conditions of Syrian refugees residing in Lebanon.
