Washington: One of the mottos used by US President Donald Trump since he took office in January has been promises made, promises kept. The first 100 days of his second term have seen him brazenly wield his executive authority, but many of his campaign pledges remain unfulfilled.

According to France24.com, in the first 100 days of Trump’s second term in the White House, federal courts have slowed or halted some of his most aggressive moves. Trump vowed to resolve conflicts in Gaza and Ukraine swiftly, claiming he could forge a peace deal in the latter war on “Day One” in office. However, both conflicts continue to claim lives, while Trump has launched a large-scale campaign of airstrikes against Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen.

His worldwide tariffs have jolted the US stock market and stoked fears of a recession. Businesses that rely on imports are nervous, and consumer confidence is dropping. But nowhere has Trump been more aggressive than with immigration policy. Arrests of migrants in the US illegally through Trump’s first three months have already surpassed last year’s total.
