Baghdad: The National Committee for Combating Violent Extremism Leading to Terrorism convened its inaugural meeting with the “Role of Technology in Combating Violent Extremism” team, led by Ali Abdullah Al-Badri, to deliberate on the team’s innovative plans and chart its future direction.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Badri presented the national strategy to combat extremism, emphasizing the critical role of technology in countering extremist ideologies and enhancing preventive measures through digital platforms. This approach aims to protect society and strengthen intellectual security.

The meeting featured discussions on preliminary working papers that explored the effective use of technology in tackling extremist content. The focus was on aligning visions and setting the team’s work priorities, especially in rapid monitoring and effective response to extremist materials. Additionally, efforts were directed towards creating awareness-raising content that promotes values of tolerance, peace, and coexistence.

The importance of developing specialized national capacities to combat digital extremism was also underscored.
