Baghdad: The Ministry of Justice announced today the release of 1,750 inmates by the Iraqi Correctional Service during April 2025. These releases took place in Baghdad and various governorates.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry detailed that 289 inmates were released following the expiration of their sentences or based on discriminatory decisions. Additionally, 1,461 inmates were released under the provisions of the General Amnesty Law.
The Ministry affirmed that the Correctional Service is committed to monitoring release procedures closely to ensure all legal requirements are satisfied. This effort is part of the Ministry’s dedication to upholding justice and fulfilling its duties in line with established legal frameworks.
