Baghdad: Parliament Speaker Mahmoud al-Mashhadani engaged in discussions with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov regarding the expansion of bilateral cooperation across political, religious, cultural, and economic domains.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the meeting included Azerbaijani Charg© d’Affaires in Iraq, Elnur Mammadzadeh, along with an economic and political delegation. Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein, several Members of Parliament, and advisors to the Parliament Speaker were also present. The discussions encompassed tourism and educational collaborations and initiatives to establish an Azerbaijani consulate in Erbil, exploring measures to ensure its effective operation.

Al-Mashhadani commended the efforts of the governmental committee in setting up the Iraqi-Azerbaijani Businessmen Council. He emphasized the importance of collaboration between influential nations in addressing regional crises and conflicts, suggesting that such cooperation is vital to preventing their escalation. He underscored the necessity for these efforts to either extinguish or contain the conflicts to avoid their spillover into other countries.

Moreover, both parties expressed a unified stance in supporting the Palestinian people, particularly concerning their positions on Gaza and Palestine.
