Baghdad: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the Republic of Iraq’s welcome of the ceasefire decision between the Republic of India and the Republic of Pakistan, which it considers a positive initiative that reflects both parties’ commitment to dialogue and diplomacy as a means of resolving conflicts.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed in a statement that “this decision represents a wise step towards calming tensions in the region and paves the way for strengthening mutual trust and building bridges of understanding and rapprochement. It also appreciates the efforts made to reach this agreement.”

The Ministry stressed that lasting solutions can only be achieved through constructive negotiation and adherence to international agreements and laws. The statement added, “The Ministry expresses its hope that this initiative will be translated into practical steps that enhance regional cooperation, enshrine the principles of peaceful coexistence, and spare the peoples of the two friendly countries the scourge of conflict and its repercussions, thus contributing to a more secure and prosperous future for the entire region.”
