Geneva: US-China trade talks concluded on Saturday and will resume on Sunday.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Chinese state media described the trade talks between Beijing and Washington in Geneva as an “important step” toward finding a solution to the trade war between the two countries. A commentary published by the Chinese news agency Xinhua stated that “the communication in Switzerland is an important step toward finding a solution to the issue.”

Earlier, the Chinese news agency reported that “trade talks between China and the United States have begun in Geneva. These talks come at a sensitive time between the two countries in light of the escalating trade tensions.”

US President Donald Trump had indicated the possibility of reducing tariffs on China from the current 145 percent to 80 percent. Trump explained in a statement that “imposing tariffs of 80 percent on China seems to be the appropriate level. It depends on Scott Bessent,” referring to the head of the negotiating delegation on behalf of Washington, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.
