Washington: US President’s envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, confirmed: “If the new round of talks with Iran is not fruitful, then this negotiation will not continue and there will be another path,” he said.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Witkoff elaborated in an interview with the American Breitbart website, stating that Washington will not accept a bad deal and will not allow Iran to obtain a nuclear weapon. He expressed hope for the success of the next round of talks, which are scheduled to occur in the Sultanate of Oman.

The US envoy emphasized that the Iranians cannot possess a nuclear bomb and mentioned that Iran has assured they do not wish to obtain one. For the sake of the talks, their assurance is being taken seriously.

Witkoff further stated that Iran’s enrichment facilities must be dismantled. He insisted they cannot have centrifuges and must reduce the enrichment rate of all their fuel, sending it to a distant location. He suggested a switch to a civilian program as necessary.

Earlier, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi confirmed that the fourth round of indirect negotiations with the United States is scheduled for Sunday, following an Omani proposal approved by Tehran. Araqchi explained that progress in the negotiations requires further consultations and time to study the content of the negotiations.
