Baghdad: The Media Committee for the Arab Summit has announced a comprehensive plan to receive press delegations to cover the 34th summit meetings in the capital, Baghdad, next Saturday.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Haider Majeed, a member of the Media Committee, stated that Iraq is actively welcoming kings, presidents, ministers, and diplomatic as well as press delegations, which have shown a strong interest in covering the Arab Summit’s activities and meetings in Baghdad.
Majeed outlined the committee’s efforts, highlighting the comprehensive plan developed to accommodate press delegations from outside Iraq. This plan involves high-level coordination with the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Interior and Iraqi missions abroad. An electronic platform has been launched for registration and issuance of “quick and free” entry visas, in line with the Prime Minister’s directives. Additionally, journalists’ information is being electronically documented to facilitate the issuance of identification
badges for covering the Arab Summit meetings.
He further disclosed that by Tuesday, approximately 200-250 Arab and foreign journalists had already entered Iraq. Press delegations will continue to arrive until Saturday morning, ensuring that all officially registered journalists are approved to cover the summit meetings.
Majeed mentioned that the names of local media journalists have been registered, and badges distributed in two batches. A delegation from the Arab Broadcasting Union, consisting of 15 journalists, is set to cover and broadcast the summit’s proceedings to television and satellite stations in Arab countries.
In addition, a special press delegation assigned by the Arab League, including journalists from various Arab nations, has arrived in Baghdad and begun covering the preparatory meetings.
Regarding the press center’s readiness, Majeed confirmed its full operational status. The Prime Minister recently visited the press center at the Heart of the World Hotel to review the facilities, emphasi
zing the importance of providing journalists with necessary technical, artistic, and administrative support during the summit.
Majeed explained that there are special halls for live press coverage, equipped with modern sound and lighting equipment and the official summit logo. The Arab Summit meetings’ proceedings will be broadcast live from within the press center at the Heart of the World Hotel in central Baghdad, keeping journalists informed about the “ministerial and development” meetings.
