Baghdad: Minister of Health, Saleh Al-Hasnawi, participated today via videoconference in a special meeting of the WHO Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean, dedicated to reviewing the meeting schedules and preparations for the WHO General Assembly meeting in Geneva. Iraq will participate with a high-level delegation headed by the Minister of Health, along with a number of senior cadres from the Ministry and specialized technical staff.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry stated in a statement: “The meeting reviewed the timing of the meetings and the preparations required for the Iraqi delegation’s participation, especially since the Minister will hold the position of Vice-Chair of Committee (A) at the 78th session of the WHO General Assembly.”
It added: “The meeting was attended by the WHO Representative in Iraq, Jamila Al-Raabi, the Director-General of the Public Health Department, Riyad Al-Halfi, and the Ministry’s official spokesperson, Saif Al-Badr.”
During his remarks, the Minister stressed the importance of coordinating regional positions on priority health issues and working to enhance the presence of regional countries in international events, reflecting the health challenges and achievements witnessed by the region in recent years.
