Islamabad: Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar announced on Thursday that senior officers from the Indian and Pakistani armies have agreed to extend the ceasefire until next Sunday.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Ishaq Dar told the Senate in Islamabad, “We held talks today, and the ceasefire will be in effect until May 18.”

For his part, Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar warned that “India will not resume the Indus Water Treaty with Pakistan until the latter ceases what he described as ‘support for cross-border terrorism.'”

Jaishankar added that “the treaty is suspended and will remain so until Pakistan credibly and irreversibly puts an end to cross-border terrorism.”

New Delhi “suspended its participation in this agreement, concluded in 1960 with Islamabad, after an attack that killed 26 people in the tourist city of Pahalgam in Indian-administered Kashmir on April 22nd.”
