Basra: The Ministry of Interior announced today the arrest of the individual responsible for the death of martyred Lieutenant Colonel Muhannad Risan al-Zaidi, who was killed while on duty on April 4, 2025. The arrest took place in a desert area located between the governorates of Dhi Qar and Basra.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the arrest was the result of a coordinated security operation based on precise intelligence. A joint force within the Dhi Qar Governorate Police Command Sector successfully apprehended the suspect. The operation involved several units, including the Anti-Crime Department, the Falcons Intelligence Cell, the Intelligence and Anti-Terrorism Directorate, the 3rd Regiment Commando Company, and the 14th Federal Police Brigade Intelligence.

The operation culminated in a confrontation with the accused, identified as A.A.K. An arrest warrant was executed against him, and authorities seized an RBK weapon and a pistol during the operation. In addition to the primary suspect, four other individuals were detained for aiding in his evasion from law enforcement.
