Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani highlighted the crucial role of clerics in promoting peace and fighting corruption during a recent meeting. The Prime Minister urged religious leaders to aid in the rejection of violence and extremism while emphasizing the importance of rationalizing discourse.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Prime Minister’s Media Office released a statement detailing Al-Sudani’s meeting with members of the Supreme Council of the Iraqi Fiqh Academy. During the discussions, they evaluated the current state of the nation and the government’s initiatives to bolster security, social, and economic stability, aiming to fulfill the demands and aspirations of the Iraqi populace.

Al-Sudani underscored the significant impact of religious leaders in guiding public discourse towards non-violence and integrity. He remarked on the noticeable progress in Iraq across various sectors and regions, highlighting improvements seen in all governorates.

The Fiqh Academy delegation commended the government’s efforts in executing service and development projects, as well as the reconstruction and growth initiatives observed in Baghdad and other regions over the past two years. They also lauded the successful organization of the Arab and Development Summits in Baghdad, acknowledging their contributions to enhancing Iraq’s regional and international influence.
