Baghdad: The Arab League has voiced its support for the implementation of the outcomes of the 34th Arab Summit hosted in Baghdad, emphasizing its commitment to the “Development Road” project.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Jamal Rushdi, the official spokesman for the Secretary-General of the Arab League, stated that the summit’s decisions primarily focused on the Palestinian cause, urging for a halt to aggression and the provision of humanitarian aid to Gaza. The summit also marked the establishment of a humanitarian assistance fund, with Iraq pledging $40 billion towards it. This initiative aims to aid crisis-hit areas such as Palestine and Lebanon and signifies a shift from individual country efforts to a collective approach under the Arab League’s supervision.

Rushdi highlighted Iraq’s proposal of forming a Council of Arab Trade Ministers to address economic challenges through unified Arab perspectives. The summit further explored paths towards Arab economic integration, including initiatives related to artificial intelligence, with Baghdad proposing the establishment of an AI center in cooperation with the League of Arab States. Other initiatives discussed included a blue economy initiative and an Arab food security strategy for 2025-2035.

The outcomes of the summit also involved the launch of programs and centers, with a focus on new mechanisms to be monitored over the next four years under Iraq’s chairmanship. Discussing the Development Road Project, Rushdi noted its international acclaim and investment prospects, stressing the Arab League’s commitment to advancing its implementation.
