Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani chaired a regular meeting on Wednesday to follow up on oil sector projects, electricity sector projects, and other sectors linked to the Ministry of Oil projects. The meeting was attended by the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Oil, the Minister of Electricity, and a number of advisors.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement from the Prime Minister’s Media Office stated that the meeting reviewed electricity generation capacities and matters related to the completion of oil sector projects, specifically concerning the provision of gas to power plants. It also covered the progress and completion rates of the Ministry of Oil’s strategic projects included in the government program, the work of oil exploration companies, and the advancement of major and integrated oil projects along with their developmental annexes. This includes the joint seawater pipeline and seawater treatment projects.

The meeting further examined reports on the completion of field projects in Al-Sabbah (Dhi Qar), Al-Luhais, Al-Faiha, and Artawi (Basra), as well as the execution of oil and gas pipeline projects, various warehouse projects across the governorates, and gas complex projects.

Additionally, the meeting addressed projects not included in the government program, such as those in the annexes to the fifth and sixth licensing rounds, a number of gas compressor projects, and rehabilitation and development projects in different fields and refineries.

According to the statement, the Prime Minister directed the continuation of meetings between the entities supervising the projects at various technical and administrative levels, along with other relevant officials in several state institutions and departments. This aims to monitor any delays, find practical and field solutions to expedite completion, and determine the planned completion rates by the end of the current year.
