Paris: Minister of Trade Atheer Dawood Al Ghariri discussed with his French counterpart, Laurent Saint Martin, mechanisms to enhance bilateral economic cooperation. The Ministry of Trade announced that Minister Al Ghariri engaged in a technical meeting with the French Minister of Foreign Trade at the French Business Agency headquarters in Paris, coinciding with his participation in the Iraqi French Business Forum. This meeting is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the economic partnership between Iraq and France and to expand joint cooperation.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Minister Al Ghariri emphasized the Iraqi government’s commitment to establishing an attractive legislative and investment environment to boost the presence of French companies in the Iraqi market. He highlighted new opportunities for cooperation across various sectors, aligning with the government’s priorities to integrate into the global economy and attract foreign capital for sustainable development.
Al Ghariri noted the
significant progress in Iraqi-French relations, underscoring the importance of activating existing memoranda of understanding and agreements to enhance trade, industry, and investment collaborations. He also mentioned ongoing preparations for the 17th session of the Iraqi French Joint Committee, expressing optimism that this session would further deepen bilateral ties and expand cooperation in critical sectors.
The French Minister of Trade reiterated France’s eagerness to develop economic partnerships with Iraq and expressed readiness to support French companies interested in investing in the Iraqi market. He emphasized France’s commitment to working closely with the Iraqi Ministry of Trade to ensure the success of the forthcoming joint committee.
